The World Cup water polo started off strong today with Zenito winning 12-7 from Uthana, after which Salm had to win to take the top of their group. The Snappers sailed to victory, beating Varuna with 16-13.

The game started off slow, with both teams not being able to get the ball in the net. After the first period, the score was a fairly meagre 3-1. The second period contained way more action, with Kurt Schneider almost being sent to Poseidon’s Lair after a strongly needed, but poorly performed defensive action from Varuna’s captain Renzi.
“The team knew the importance of this game and gave it their everything to come up with a good result.”
The snappers have been swimming with the current lately, winning 3 of their last 4 games. One of the reasons is without a doubt the entrance of young talent into the team, combined with some more experienced players that can show great leadership. “The team knew the importance of this game and gave it their everything to come up with a good result.”, captain Mark Dorsch stated.

“We have to win this home game. We have the advantage and know that our fans will have our back.”
Finishing top of the group means that the Snappers automatically go through to the Quarter-finals, in which they will have to face the reigning champions: The Vindicta Vipers. The game will be played at the Silverside stadium in our capital, which could turn the tides between winning or losing.
“We have to win this home game. We have the advantage and know that our fans will have our back.”, Dorsch said in an interview. The Snappers are fully confident that they can beat the Vipers in this thriller of a game.
